Is Fuller’s Earth Beneficial for Your Skin

What is Fuller’s earth after all? Is it really beneficial for all types of skin? Such intriguing questions strike every mind, and further lead to an array of unanswered queries. Also widely known as Multani Mitti, or Multani Soil in South East Asia, this is aluminium magnesium silicate clay formed from decaying volcanic ash. As the name suggests, this was used by the British for cleansing, or “fulling” sheep wool after the sheering process. No wonder, Multani Mitti became popularly known as Fuller’s Earth. Also, the British textile workers used it for bleaching wool.

Found extensively in Multan province of Pakistan, multani soil, or fuller’s earth has amazing properties. The widely acclaimed beautiful Indian women of the Middle Ages considered this natural gift of earth as an essential item of their beauty kits. Since then, fuller’s earth has been popular in solving skin issues, and for attaining blemish-free skin. Even today, when the beauty stores are replete with branded products, ladies come looking for multani soil packs. Why is it so?

Researchers state that fuller’s earth absorbs sweat, dirt, and other impurities from our skin. Also, it nourishes sagging skin, and exfoliates, thereby making our skin soft and supple. So, ladies! Make it a part of your regular beauty regime, in order to attain radiance and glow!

The Taj Mahal, India’s iconic monument receives multani mud-pack treatment for the removal of yellow stains, and grime caused due to pollution. This is done to restore its color and sheen.  Researchers, however, are apprehensive about its long term implications, since it would eventually corrode, and bleach the marble walls of the mausoleum.
